It’s back-to-school time, and around here, that’s our favorite time of the year! We were so excited to see students return to in-person learning and we appreciate the financial support that helped us send so many of them back in style!
For the second year in a row, our Distribution was a drive-through event that served a smaller portion of the families we’ll help this year. But it was still a great time! On Monday, July 19, we descended on the Gila River Arena with trailers full of merchandise and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were full of activity. Approximately 375 volunteers from Fighter Country Partnership, the Fiesta Bowl, National Charities League, and Boys Team Charities packed 1,500 backpacks, assembled 679 bags of clothing and other items, and then gave it all away to Arizona’s military families and Title I students. In the coming weeks we will deliver the remaining 3,500 students’ merchandise directly to their schools for parent pick up.
The 2021 Arizona Family “Pay it Forward” virtual fundraiser was another summer success story! Donations of more than $40,000 came in from callers throughout Arizona. We are so grateful to BHHS Legacy Foundation for matching donations and to Arizona’s Family and the “Pay it Forward” sponsors: America First Credit Union, Sweet James Accident Attorneys, and the Valley Honda Dealers. But honestly, we can’t thank you enough for your generosity and support of our program. I promise every time you give to Back to School Clothing Drive you can do it with confidence.
