Summer is over (at least on the calendar) and its time to get started on creating our inventory for 2020. I did send an email after distribution touching on the distribution highlights, and we can go over any questions you may have.
As in years past, one struggle we have is with sizing. Included in the email I sent earlier, I tried to create some standard sizes for the boys shirts. I have been asked to work on standard sizes for the girls. This is even more of a challenge but I will try and have a handout this Saturday. Everything is so variable, depending on the pattern style, fabric choices and how close we adhere to the 5/8 inch seam allowances. But as with the boy shirts, I will work on standard waist measurements and let the other measurements fall as they may!
For the September open house we will have a show and share so you can show us what items you made over the summer that were just for you.
Boys love wallets!! So for the October open house we will be having a wallet class. Walt is creating kits for our class however going forward, the 4 pieces of the wallet are a standard 8 inches wide, with pieces being 3 inches, 4 inches, 4 1/2 inches and 5 1/2 inches high/tall. You don’t need a serger to make them but it does save a few steps. If you would like to attend the class, you don’t need to bring your sewing machine or serger as we have them at the office; but I will need to know that you are staying so I can reserve a sewing machine for you. You can also watch instead of hands on. The class will be about 30 minutes but they are easy and can be completed in 15 minutes or less. We always have pieces left from dress shirts and cotton pillowcases, so if you would like those pieces, just let me know and I will put your name on them.
I also received several requests at distribution for a class on making boy dress shirts. These really are pretty easy but would take longer than time available at Open House. I will have a sign up sheet if you are interested in a 2-3 part class and we can discuss a date and time via email.
Details for the Open House are noted below. I added many names from distribution, however if you would like to receive emails for distribution only, please let me know and I will remove you from my monthly emails.
