I hope this finds everyone healthy and busy sewing and crafting.  What a year it has been! At our March 2020 Open House, we were just hearing about Covid and the following week our lives came to a screeching halt. You all kicked into major mask making, we saw empty fabric shelves at Joann’s and we were scrounging in all our drawers and bins for elastic.  Forget trying to buy a new sewing machine, even those were hard to find. We were all grateful for our fabric stashes!

We temporarily suspended our Open House meetings, distribution and our sewing events.  We did restart with our modified Open House events and distribution.  Thankfully the Covid cases are dropping once again and as more people are choosing to receive the vaccine, we are planning to continue to have our streamlined Open House and restarting some sewing events.  Following the store guidelines,  we were able to resume our sew day at 35th Ave Sew and Vac on the 4th Sunday of the month.  They have asked us to limit our attendance to 10 people and masks are required. We felt the best to do this was in 2 time slots, 10:00-12:30 and 12:30-3:00.  You can sign up for 1 or both slots. We had 7 join us in February and it went real well. We will meet again March 28 and if you would like to attend, please email or text me with your time slot(s) as an RSVP is required so no one is turned away.

Our latest inventory is posted here.  We are doing an awesome job on accessories, but we really need clothes.  For the first time since I have been involved with Stitches of Love (2007) we have more tops than bottoms!  Awesome job everyone!!  We know that last year was a challenge in selecting clothing for the schools as the schools did not provide many sizes and we found that by using ages, we ran out of sizes 10-12 in both boys and girls.  So what do we need, clothing in sizes 6-12 with an emphasis in sizes 10-12.  As of this time, we do not know what distribution is going to look like this summer, so we are trying to be prepared for our ‘normal distribution’ and our 2020 distribution style.

It is very important that we continually plan for the future of Stitches of Love so we need to reach out to add sewist and crafters to our group.  Does anyone have any friends who would like to join us in making items for our kids?  If so, please bring them with you to an Open House or send me their contact information so we can share our requirements with them.  We have found that it is very important that we are able to communicate with them directly.

We are still collecting items for Go with the Flow, so bring the supplies or pouches with you to drop off in their collection box.

Thanks for all you do for the kids, and we hope to see you Saturday anytime from 9-12 to drop off your items and pick up supplies.
