Drives
How to Host a Successful Drive
A drive is a great way for schools, businesses, churches, civic groups, and other organizations to join with Back-To-School in collecting items that we need for our programs. There are three basic types of drives that you can conduct: 1) school supplies, 2) personal hygiene items, and 3) socks and underwear. Drives are fun, but require attention and supervision to be successful. Please Note: We do not accept used or “gently used” clothes or school supplies. We provide all new clothing and school supplies to our participating kids. Additionally, Back to School Clothing Drive does not accept food items of any kind.
How Do I Hold A Drive?
Begin by deciding what you would like to collect. Limit the number of items you attempt to collect. If you decide to collect school supplies, select one, two, or a maximum of three items. Focus your efforts on these items.
Next determine where you will set up your collection sites and acquire boxes to place in these locations. Your local U-haul or other box providers are good resources. Please try to use the same size box in all locations if possible. Finally, communicate the drive through your internal employee communication channels. What School Supplies Do We Need?
