About us
Founded in 1967, The Back-To-School Clothing Drive provides new school outfits and uniforms, backpacks and school supplies to children in need. Each year, more than 20,000 children from 140 schools receive our support, thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, corporate sponsors and foundations.
School supplies, a new outfit, a pair of shoes, and a backpack to hold school books – to most children, these are basic necessities for a new school year. But for children whose families can’t afford them, these items – and the confidence they bring – are hopelessly out of reach. By providing these kids with the tools so many take for granted, Back to School Clothing Drive allows them to focus on what’s really important – their schoolwork. To these children, our efforts represent not having to wear hand-me downs to school, and give them the “grown-up” thrill of choosing their own items and the chance to dress like other kids.
We do it all with 2,500 volunteer corps and 200 special women who sew year-round for us as a part of our Stitches of Love program. The smiles say it all! A boost of self-esteem and all the right tools to succeed.
